7/23/2010  KART - All Members - Steven Winkler's Passing

Sadly, KART has lost another of our racing family.

Wallis "Wally" Russell Stallcup, 46, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away July 21, 2010, at his home. Wally was born July 27, 1963, in Oklahoma City, Okla.. to George and Lou Ann Stallcup. He leaves behind his wife, Tammy Stallcup. Tammy and Wally were high school sweethearts and had been married for 25 years. He also leaves behind his children, Matt and Tyler Stallcup.  Wally loved his family, fishing, his dogs and racing go karts and motorcycles with his sons.  The family participated with KART MARRS occasionally and also raced at the local sprint tracks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to McGilley & Hoge Funeral Home in care of the family.
Cards may be sent to the home @ 8937 Craig Dr., Overland Park, KS  66212.

6/30/2010  KART - Mid America Road Race Series - Rules Clarification

After further review KART Board of Directors feel that the intent of paragraph (Sec. 6.F.8b) in the KART rules and technical guide with regards to allowing all IKF and WKA approved ICC engines is to allow competitors from those organizations to compete at KART National Championships and KART/MARRS events while minimizing any extra effort or changes to their current setups. The intent of the rule “All ICC engines must be run in controlled condition” is intended to refer to each engine’s specific FIA/CIK homologation documentation, and is not intended to be interpreted as a means to refer to another organization’s general or class rules.
Therefore, all engine tech documentation for CIK125 road racing class is to be found in the KART rulebook and each engine’s verifiable OEM documentation (Motocross engines) or FIA/CIK homologation documentation (ICC engines).
Air boxes, intake silencers, and air filters have been and will continue to be non-tech items at all KART sanctioned events within the CIK125 class.
Thank You,
KART Enduro Board of Directors.

6/29/2010  KART - Mid America Road Race Series

Based on results at recent events, the KART Board of Directors have approved a modification to the weight of karts with Yamaha engines in the Piston Port R & D class .  The class weight for Yamaha engines will be changed to 395 lbs. for the MARRS/SWRA combined event at Hallett July 16-18, 2010. 6/15/2010  KART - Mid America Road Race Series

2/2/2010  KART - All Divisions

Attention KART Membership!  One of our own, Anthony Honeywell has been nominated for road race driver of the year by E-Karting News.   Anthony’s driving record stands on its own, in 2009 alone he won 1 Duffy, 3 Triads, 2 Daytona World Championships, was the class Champion in 100 Open with KART and won 17 races between KART, IKF and WKA.  I have raced wheel-to-wheel and bumper-to- bumper with this young man (on my good days) and in my opinion he is a class act both on and off the track.

I have gotten to know Anthony a little this year and for those of you who have not, I encourage you to take some time and introduce yourself.  Anthony is very quiet never boastful he does his talking behind the wheel.  I’ve seen him loan parts to a competitor, just so they could get out on the track and race.  This year he stepped out of his kart at Lake Afton so a friend could race.  Anthony has many accomplishments in his young life.   Anthony joined the Air Force right out of High School in 1999.  He was awarded Distinguished Graduate from Basic Training.  While serving his country he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant performing his duties as in-flight air refueling operator on a KC-10.  His military career took him around the world a few times including 76 flights over Afghanistan and 15 over Iraq.  Those sorties earned him the Air Combat Medal (same medal fighter and bomber pilots earn).

After six years Anthony left the military with an Honorable Discharge.  Two weeks after returning home Anthony was attending classes at The University of Oklahoma.  He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting in December 2007.  He is now attending Law School at The University of Oklahoma!  Where was this kid when my two daughters were single??  Anthony started his racing career at twelve and sprint raced until entering the military.  He returned to racing in 2007 and promptly won the Triad in 100 Open at the KART Nationals.

As you can see Anthony is very deserving of this title and it couldn’t hurt to have the road race driver of the year here in the Mid West, just to let the rest of the country know the talent pool of our young people.  I have included a link to ekartingnews.com.  If you will scroll to the bottom of the page, there are instructions on how to vote!  Please join me in voting for Anthony.

November 7, 2009
To the Board of Directors and membership of KART:
This letter acknowledges the resignation of Michael L. Baldus from the position of President/ Administrative Director of KART at the conclusion of this meeting, or after the vote on his replacement, whichever comes first.
This letter acknowledges the resignation of Linda L. Baldus from the position of Executive Secretary of KART at any time convenient to the newly elected President, or on 12/31/09, whichever comes first.
Linda and I have been very fortunate to have served in our capacities since the founding of KART in 1994.
We are offering 100% support of KART and its new administrators, and we fully plan to participate in KART’s Mid America Road Race Series, along with our grandson Pierce, and other family members.
We have reached a time when along with kart racing, we would like and need to do some other things such as traveling and visiting with friends and relatives.
Over the past 16 years, we have enjoyed many wonderful experiences being at the head of KART, but because of time and supervision constraints, we have had to put many things off into the future. We are leaving KART in very sound financial condition. We feel this is the time to put KART in the hands of younger and more energetic people. Hopefully, the future is now here and we will be able to do some of these put-off things.
But our competitors should not take this with a sigh of relief; the Baldus trailer will be present and we still plan on winning races. Kart racing with friends is still our #1 goal.
Sincerely,
Mike & Linda

9/17/2009  KART - All Divisions

Due to the KART Board of Directors finding out that some of the helmet manufacturers would not have helmets with 2010 certification on the market until late 2010, the Directors had a concern regarding the availability of helmets with the 2010 certification. They made the decision to change the date listed in Sec. 3 D 8 a) of both the 2008 and 2009 KART Rules and Technical Guides from 1/01/2010 to 1/01/2011. This means that Snell 2000 will be allowed for the entire 2010 racing season.

9/9/2009  KART - All Divisions

We've received the terrible news of the passing of Jean and John Kyle's granddaughter and Karla Rayburn's niece, Casey, on Sunday, September 6, 2009.  All of us remember she and her sister running around the roadrace pits when they were younger.  Casey was 22.
No further details are available; Karla said she just didn't wake up.
Our prayers and thoughts are with this wonderful family in their time of sorrow.

8/12/2009  KART - All Divisions

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you of the passing of Joe Sousley. Joe passed away today, August 9th, in his sleep, at the age of 77.
To the really old timers that may remember, or think they might remember Joe, he was one of the orginal Jack Hill "Bus Bunch", the bunch of comrades from the Kansas City area that went all over the country in one of the original buses "back in the day", the really beginning stages of karting.
In his racing days, he had run B-ltd and any other of the "fast classes", and was one of the beginners in the shifter revolution.
He and his beloved daughter, Jana, were a true team.
Joe owned Ornamental Brass in Kansas City, and was the original producer of IKF's Duffy, and responsible from inception to fruition of the KART Triad.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jana, and her Mom, Virginia.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held later. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that his friends consider signing an organ donor card and donations to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd., Grandview, MO 64030.
Cards may be sent to the residence @ 7712 Windsor, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
