5-06-2008 KART - Mid America Road Race Series Daily Schedule

Due to speed differentials between TaG Sr.1 & 2 and B&S Animal Sportsman 1 & 2, the race directors of the Lake Afton and Lake Garnett events have decided to run the Animal Sportsman classes with TaG Cadet ! & 2 at the remaining events run at Lake Afton and Lake Garnett.  The downloadable event schedule will be updated to reflect these changes.

4-08-2008 KART/Mid America Sprint Series

The first Mid America Sprint Series event took place at I-70 speedway last weekend.  The weather was sketchy at first but turned out to be dry for the races.  The course was at the very least interesting and different from any other sprint track seen in this area or any other for that matter.  The racers were able to use both ends of the track which included 28 deg. banked corners and chicanes before and after to prevent entry speeds from being too high in the banked corners.  The grandstands were also able to be used to watch the races and all parts of the course could be easily viewed from there.   I-70 speedway also sold concessions for the racers and spectators for lunch.  The largest classes consisted of younger age groups running various forms of Cadet karts with a sprinkle of TaG and shifter karts attending.

The shifter karts were still seeing 70-80 mph in three places on the course.  Without one of the chicanes, 100 mph speeds could have been achieved in the banked corners.  There are a couple of areas on the infield part of the course that need a little attention concerning roughness but over all, the track was good fun and very different from other sprint track venues.….kind of like a mini Daytona.

All in all, the event went smoothly for an inaugural event early in the racing season.  We urge all racers to support the effort put forth to bring sprint racing back to the Midwestern area.  Special thanks to Brit Phillips and all that helped him organize this event as well as the event sponsor’s.

4-03-2008 KART - Mid America Road Race Series

There has been a change to the Gateway race schedule. 100cc Open will be moved from race 3 to race 7 on Saturday.  This change has created several entries in two classes with those that can run both classes that were originally combined into the same race group.  Yet another change made to best accommodate the racers and membership.  Thanks MARRS!!
 

3-31-2008 KART - Enduro & Mid America Road Race Series

All Roadrace members per the Enduro Directors' decision based on testing: 

Due to non-ethanol pump gas being more and more unobtainable, the use of ethanol pump gas will be allowed.
 
The testing procedure using cyclohexane will be:  The fuel meter will be set at -215.   
Pump gas and oil  ( Yamaha, HPV etc ) will be from -215 to .000  i.e.: +001 will be DQed
Pump gas ( Animals) will be -215 to -025  i.e.. -024 will be DQed
Race fuel and oil ( Shifters, Tags etc) will be -215 to -125 i.e.: i.e.: -124 will be DQed
Please have your fuel checked at each event prior to racing to avoid any surprises at post tech.

3-14-2008 KART - Sprint Divisions

It has come to KART administrative office's attention that the weights for the TaG Cadet class were accidentally left out of the 2008 KART Tech/Rule book.  The 2008 TaG Cadet rules should read as follows:

TaG Cadet I and TaG Cadet II will be run together.

TaG Cadet I  - 225 Lbs.

TaG Cadet II - 250 Lbs.

TaG Cadet Heavy I and TaG Cadet Heavy II will be run together.

TaG Cadet I  - 245 Lbs.

TaG Cadet II - 270 Lbs.

-These weights will be used for the entire 2008 season.

 

3-01-2008 KART/MARRS - MSR / Cresson

The event schedule has been slightly altered at the request of some racers running both TaG classes and 80cc shifter classes.  These classes are now run in separate race groups.  Please check the updated entry-form & schedule that can be downloaded from the MARRS schedule page.

 

2-21-2008 KART - All Divisions

It is with extreme sadness that we must tell you all of the passing of Steven Dean Denny.  He was the son of KART's Adminstrative Office employee, Maysha Hatcher Phillips, and James Denny.  He entered this world on February 17, 2008 at 6:21 am and he left us on February 19, 2008 at 12:45 pm due to birth complications. 
Our thoughts and prayers are with Maysha Hatcher and James Denny's entire family.

-Visitation for Steven Denny will be at Shipman Funeral Home in Pryor, OK on Thursday, February 21st at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Graveside services will be on Friday, February 22nd at 10:30 am at Lone Chapel in Pryor, OK.

2-15-2008 KART/MARRS - TaG Cadet Class

ATTENTION TAG CADET racers, MARRS has added the TAG CADET class to their series for the 2008 season as a local option class. This class will be available both Saturday & Sunday (separate classes). Rules will be per TAGUSA ( www.tagracing.net ) with the exception of the tire rule. Any compound will be allowed but must be in the stated size per the TAGUSA rules. MARRS is combining the CADET 1 & CADET 2 classes listed in the TAGUSA rules and will run them at the weight listed per that engine. This class will receive 2 - 10 minute practice sessions per day, run 1 - 20 minute race per day. Every driver will receive an award at each event. For the series, we will count your best 5 races and you must be entered in 4 to qualify for year end awards. Any questions contact Kelly Read (316-722-8462).

 

2-4-2008 KART/MARRS - Awards Banquet reminder

Just a reminder, the MARRS 2007 Awards Banquet is coming up and is just around the corner, MARCH 1, 2008 at the BEST WESTERN AIRPORT INN located at 6815 W. Kellogg (hwy 54) in Wichita Kansas.  If you plan on attending, the tickets/reservations must be purchased/placed before 23 February 2008 with Donna Read @ 7411 School Street, Wichita, Kansas 67212.  The tickets are $23.00 for each adult, $11 for children (3-10), and free for children under 3 years of age.

Don't forget, there is a block of rooms reserved under MARRS for both 02-29-08 & 03-01-08 at $79.00 per night. Reservations for the rooms must be made by 02-15-08 by calling 1-888-942-5666 (be sure to mention MARRS). In an effort to get the racers back to the track, the series is lowering entry fees to $45 for the first entry and $35 for each additional race entry.  Pit passes will be $15 per weekend for both drivers and spectators.  Weekend temporary membership passes are also available for $15 per event.  Remember,  you can save $5 by purchasing a KART membership in advance since there are 5 MASS events.  Full memberships are required to race in the KART National Championship event.

The KART Southern Sprint Banquet will take place at Speed Zone in Dallas TX. on *February 2, 2008.* Time of the event - 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Reservation deadline is January 25, 2008.  Adults age 13 & over - $25 Children age 12 & under - $15

11-27-2007 KART - All Divisions

Per the Annual Meeting held on November 10, 2007, all KART members, pleased be advised:

RIB PROTECTION:  In 2008, rib protectors with SFI 20.1 certification will be mandatory for all divisions for all Kid Kart, Rookie, Jr. 1 and Cadet drivers any time they are on the race track.  

The use of chest protection is recommended for all sit-up type kart drivers. 

NECKBRACE:  In 2008, the Leatt-Brace Moto neck brace is an acceptable neck brace for Section 3 D 8 i. 

HELMET:  In 2008, the K98 certification will no longer be legal at any KART-sanctioned event.

And as of January 1, 2010, the legal helmet classifications will be SA2005, K2005 and M2005.

 

11-27-2007 KART/MARRS - Awards Banquet

The 2007 K.A.R.T. / M.A.R.R.S. ROADRACE BANQUET will be held MARCH 1, 2008 at the BEST WESTERN AIRPORT INN located at 6815 W. Kellogg (hwy 54) in Wichita Kansas. They have an indoor pool, pool tables and game room for your enjoyment. This year’s banquet will be hosted by Kelly Read and family. We would like to invite all the M.A.R.R.S racers and family, not just the ones who qualified for awards as there is going to be something for everyone to enjoy. From 12:00-4:00, there will be a swap meet in the N.E. corner of the motel parking lot. Banquet doors will open at 6:00, meal served at 6:30 with awards to follow. A cash bar will be available from 6:00-11:00. There is going to be several grand prizes for everyone in attendance to have a chance to win. There are even special surprise prizes that everyone who attends will receive. The meal will be a buffet style dinner with a 3-meat selection, potatoes, vegetables, salad, and dessert.

Ticket prices are: $23.00-adults, $11.00-kids (3-10), under 3-free. Send quantity of tickets and payment (payable to MARRS) to Donna Read, 7411 School St., Wichita, Ks, 67212. Tickets must be purchased by 02-23-08.

11-19-2007 KART/MARRS – 2008 Reserved Kart Numbers

Any competitor that wishes to reserve their favorite kart number for MARRS events may do so at this time.  The available numbers are broken down into two groups similar to last year, 30 minute race classes, and 45 minute race classes.  The numbers that were reserved for 2007 will be honored up to and including the first Lake Afton event in May of 2008.  After that time, any numbers not reserved for the 2008 season will be open.
