01/16/2012 KART - MARRS Banquet

The 2011 KART/MARRS year end banquet will be held March 3rd, 2012 at Best Western-Airport Inn (6815 W Kellogg / Hwy 54/400).  Tickets are $30 12-up, $12 ages 3-11, under 3 free.  Swap Meet from 12-4 in NE parking lot.  Doors will open at 5pm with dinner being served at 5:30pm.  Awards will follow dinner. 

 

01/16/2012 KART - Reserved Numbers

2012 permanent numbers for the Mid America Road Race Series are now available for reservation. The numbering system is the same as 2011. A racer can reserve a number 0-99 for both a 30 min. class and/or a 45 min. class. The reserved numbers apply only to M.A.R.R.S. promoted or hosted events. Numbers reserved for 2011 will be held thru May 5,2011. After that date, any numbers not reserved for 2012 will be available. Each number reservation is $10.00. 11/12/2011 KART - Election Results
All ballots are in and have been counted.  Would like to congratulate Ted Hite in receiving the most votes and becoming the new Enduro Director.  Would also like to thank Dan Davis for all his hard work and dedication that he has provided KART as a director and participant.

The annual Board of Directors meeting will be held on November 5th, 2011 at Clarion Inn & Suites (5805 W Kellogg Dr) in Wichita KS.  The meeting will begin at 8am.   

 

9/24/2011 KART - Mid America Road Race Series
If those attending the Hallett event Oct. 15-16 are interested in Friday practice, Please contact Connie at connie@hallettracing.net to make reserve a spot by Oct. 1st.  A minimum of 10 reservations must be made in order have Friday practice.  As of Sept. 23rd, there have been 8 reservations made.  The cost per driver is $200 if 10-14 drivers reserve a spot, $150 per driver if 15-39 drivers reserve a spot.  Hallett will offer an additional price break if 40 drivers sign up.  If you would like to rent a carport for the event, contact Connie at connie@hallettracing.net  to make reservations.

 

8/30/2011 KART - Membership
Jim Edgington (KART's President and meeting chair) has been called away from Wichita for work and will not be able to attend the Lake Afton event Sept. 10-11.  Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the membership meeting scheduled for Saturday evening at Lake Afton has been postponed until the Hallett event in October.

 

8/23/2011 KART - Membership
There will be a short members meeting following the races on Saturday at Lake Afton (Sept 10th).  This Meeting will include information for the 2012 race season along with an update to the members letter regarding David Piatt Sr. and Current financials.  The meeting is not mandatory just has been asked for by some of our members. 

The official Board of Directors meeting will be held in Wichita on November 5th.

5/4/2011 KART - Membership
As many of you know, April 30 - May 1 was a bittersweet weekend for KART Enduro racers and all kart racers across the country.  While KART/MARRS racers were enjoying a wonderful weekend at the Lake Afton 50th Anniversary, one of our racers, David Piatt Sr. was involved in an on track incident for which he sustained injuries preventing him from returning to his home in Oklahoma.  In an effort to assist a fellow racing family, MKA, the group who promoted the Lake Afton event, is accepting donations to be relayed to the Piatt family to assist in expenses for their stay while David is being treated in Wichita.

Also, while KART/MARRS members were attending the Lake Afton 50th Anniversary event, we were informed of the passing of an influential member of the KART/MARRS family.  Wally Wallen lost his battle with cancer around 4:00 am May 1st, 2011.  All that knew Wally knew he was a tremendous and unique addition to the racing community across the country for many years.  Wally will be missed by many for a very long time to come.

4/6/2011 KART - Rules Clarification
A question has been raised concerning the 2011 rule changes involving intake silencers, airboxes and any other “Ram Air” type devices.   Due to somewhat ambiguous wording in the 2011 rulebook, a majority decision was reached by the KART Board of Directors concerning implementation of these rules. 
 
It has always been the position of KART to disallow supercharging, turbocharging, and any other possible type of “charging” the intake side of racing engines.  With the introduction of CIK approved airboxes that at the very least lend themselves to the idea of charging or creating positive pressure inside the airbox especially when used at higher road racing speeds, the directors and tech chairpersons have agreed that it would be in the best interest of this position to disallow all airboxes and other devices that can possibly create this “Ram Air” charging effect across all KART racing classes.  As of now, this ruling applies to Enduro, Sprint and Speedway racing as written on page 31, Section 8.E.16.
 
The KART Board of Directors and tech chairpersons believe that CIK approval of these devices was intended to apply to lower average speed sprint type racing where the perceived “Ram Air” effect is limited or negated by shorter straits, much lower average speeds, and tuning limitations. It is very unlikely that the largely American enduro/road racing application was considered by CIK when approving these devices for use.

Any other airbox design or model not listed as legal must be inspected and approved by the board of directors or tech official at a KART/MARRS event in order to be legal.  If unsure, always verify legality with the event tech official prior to starting a race.

3/16/2011 KART Enduro - Eagles Canyon Fuel Tech
The Digitron Meter at Eagles Canyon fuel tech will be set at -55 and will be set at -75 at MARRS only events.  If in doubt of your fuel reading, be sure to have it checked prior to your race.

The Eagles Canyon pre entry form and schedule is now available (Click Here).  Please note that the price listed on the entry form is for PRE ENTRY only.  Mailed entries must be received by March 15th.  Pre Entries can be faxed until 10pm CST on March 15th.  On-Line registration is also available (Click Here).

3/7/2011 KART Enduro - 2011 KART Rules update (B&S Animal Sportsman)
Due to parts and assembly availability issues with the currently legal engine clutches used in the B&S Animal Sportsman classes (MDC & Greased Lightning), the Board of Directors have allowed the Noram Cheetah clutch to be used in addition to the currently legal clutches effective immediately.

 

3/7/2011 KART Enduro - 2010 MARRS Awards Banquet
This past Saturday evening, the 2010 MARRS awards banquet took place in Wichita, Kansas.  The evening's events began following the traditional "Swap Meet" held earlier in the afternoon.  Racers and their family & friends began to arrive, check in with registration (not unlike a typical racing event!), catch up with racing friends, and take seats in the banquet hall......well, maybe a few of us stopped by the bar once or twice on the way to our tables. Once again, MARRS Awards Banquet Director Kelly Read and his family Donna, Lindsay, and Brad (and any others I didn't mention!) did an awesome job organizing this event and fully stocking the parameter of the room with great looking championship awards, winnings, and door prizes which provided fun for all in attendance, After dinner was served,  presentation of awards and drawing for an attempt spinning the Wheel of Fortune to win one of many great prizes........and congratulations Derek Proctor for winning the Briggs and Stratton Animal engine and to Bill Boyce for finally conquering the "Wheel of Fortune" to win a Yamaha KT100 "Engine"!!   Along with recognizing 2010 MARRS competitors for a season well raced, the banquet also served to provide added inspiration for racers to look forward to a great 2011 racing season with KART's Mid America Road Race Series.

1/16/2011 KART membership - Gini Ragan Update
Sadly, we must share with our membership that our friend Gini Ragan lost her fight with cancer. Gini passed yesterday January 15, 2011.
 

Gini's visitation will be Thursday, January 20th from 11:00am - approx. 1:00pm.
The funeral will follow the visitation beginning at approximately 1:00pm.

1/12/2011  KART membership - Gini Ragan

I regret to share some tough news and ask for thoughts and prayers for a member of KART's family. Chris Ragan informed me this morning that hospice is being set up for his mother, Gini Ragan. She has endured a long battle with cancer.  

Chris, his father, and their family are handling the situation as well as humanly possible. Chris was unsure of how to break this hard news to the karting community but requested the thoughts and prayers for his mother at this time.

12/29/2010  KART - Enduro Awards Banquet

The 2010 KART/ Mid America Road Race Series banquet will be held in Wichita Kansas March, 5, 2011 at the Best Western-Airport Inn located at 6815 W. Kellogg (hwy 54/400). Doors will open at 6:00 pm, dinner served at 6:30 pm with the awards ceremony starting at 7:30 pm. There will be a swap meet from 12:00 - 4:00 in the Northeast parking lot, so bring your good stuff to sell or trade.

Along with presenting the drivers with their year end awards, there will be several prizes given away for those in attendance. Dress casual (no suits required).
